WILL TOMORROW’S LEADERS COME FROM RICHMOND?

We think so. And we believe God is calling us to prepare them to Learn to Lead.

In the fall of 1951, Saint Bridget Parish completed a successful campaign to build Saint Bridget School.

Five Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary sisters came from their motherhouse in Tarrytown, New York to start the new school. During construction, classes were held in the church basement.

The new building was opened on October 6th, 1952. In its history of remarkable service to children and families in greater Richmond, there have been multiple facility upgrades and renovations, including the major acquisition of Westhampton Baptist church to establish the middle school.

We need your help to prepare a new generation of students to

LEARN TO LEAD.

Today, Saint Bridget School is home to more than 520 students who benefit from a first-class education in a faith-centered culture that highly values the dignity and potential of every child. Our academic results are outstanding, and our athletic programs are highly competitive.

In 2026, we will celebrate our 75th anniversary. In anticipation of this momentous time in our school’s history, we are launching a capital campaign in concert with the Diocese of Richmond as part of Bishop Knestout’s initiative for all Catholic schools called Learn to Lead. All of the funds we raise will remain in the school for the following priority goals that we aim to achieve over the next three years.

 $100K FOR TRANSPORTATION

ENSURING OUR CHILDREN HAVE ACCESS TO SAFE AND ADEQUATE TRANSPORTATION

A larger bus is necessary to accommodate our growing student population. Middle School students need a safe way to be transported throughout the day back and forth to the elementary school for instruction. The current bus only holds 35 students, but we have 50+ students in each grade. By having a larger bus that can hold an entire grade, we will be able to use the bus for class trips and for sport practices and events. Currently, we either rent a bus for field trips, or we rely on parent carpools. We do the same for after-school sport practices and events. The larger bus will also be a valuable boost to our athletic program.

 $400K FOR CAMPUS IMPROVEMENTS

STRENGTHENING OUR FOUNDATION FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS

Security Improvements

Our top priority at Saint Bridget is to provide a safe and secure environment for our students. It is critical that we update our current security camera views to monitor visitors in the building, as well as the exterior areas of our building. Due to the aging of the building, there is also the need to replace the access doors to the gymnasium as well as other entries. The existing intercom system relays messages through telephones located in the office and in each classroom. An updated intercom system ensures that broadcasted messages are heard throughout all areas of the school. Other upgrades include improved access control and the application of protective glazing to glass doors and windows to shield against potential impact.

Technology Upgrades

The server is nearing the end of its expected life and will soon need to be replaced by an advanced cloud-based server. The sound systems and microphones at both the school and church need to be upgraded. Installing similar systems at the school and church would be a step in the right direction in terms of standardizing equipment shared by both buildings. Replacing teacher laptops is also needed.

Update Bathrooms

The restrooms located at the elementary building are heavily used by children and staff throughout the school day, as well as by visitors attending extracurricular events and parish retreats. The facilities are worn and better water efficiency is necessary. A renovation would refresh and modernize the bathrooms. This upgrade will provide a more hospitable and functional environment.

 FINANCIAL STRENGTH

BUILDING UPON OUR SUCCESS

Capital Fund $250,000

To continue making improvements to our facilities, a capital fund will enable us to address critical issues as they arise. This approach will reduce pressure on our school’s operating budget, freeing up more for teacher compensation while maintaining tuition at affordable levels.

Endowment $250,000

Building a strong endowment will one day provide a perpetual stream of income dedicated to ensure our mission. Saint Bridget currently holds $448K in our endowment fund. Over the next three years we would like to grow the fund by $250,000. By our 100th anniversary, we would like to grow the total endowed funds to $10 million with the help of generous outright and legacy gifts to help secure the future of Saint Bridget Catholic School.

TOGETHER, WE CAN CONTINUE TO MAKE SAINT BRIDGET A BEACON OF LIGHT.
